Some thoughts I’ve been contemplating today. Genesis 19:26 reads, “But Lot’s wife looked back and became a pillar of salt.”
Lot’s wife was destroyed just on the brink of deliverance. She wasn’t ready to detach herself from her life in Sodom and, just before reaching safety, failed to obey the angels’ instructions not to look back as they fled (Genesis 19:17). I can’t help but wonder how many people today are also on the brink of deliverance but are failing to reach the safety only found in Jesus Christ. If you’re not in that place in your life, you have been there. We all have been there.
Life is full of challenges. Marriage, raising kids, bills. They all add up and can sometimes become overwhelming. And those challenges, although important, tend to draw us away from what’s really important. I’m here to tell you there is nothing more important than a relationship with our Wonderful Counselor, our Mighty God, our Eternal Father & Prince of Peace, the Savior of the world, the Lord Jesus Christ!
Don’t waste time thinking there is always more time. This world is not eternal. It is fleeting. Don’t become a pillar of salt. Make the decision today to become a follower of the only One who can sympathize with your troubles, the Lord Jesus Christ!
I pray you do it today!
