The Chi-Rho

The appearance of the Chi-Rho on this blog will likely trigger some sort of reaction from a few. So allow me to give you a brief description and a brief explanation why I’ve incorporated it into my blog.

The Chi-Rho (☧) is an ancient Christian symbol, a Christogram, formed by superimposing the first two Greek letters of “Christ” (ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ or Christos)—Chi (Χ) and Rho (Ρ)—representing Jesus Christ, predating the cross as a widespread symbol. Used by early Christians as a discreet sign of faith during persecution, it gained prominence when Roman Emperor Constantine reportedly saw it before the Battle of the Milvian Bridge (312 AD), leading him to adopt it for his army and eventually embrace Christianity. 1 2 3

So why did I change the title image to include the Chi-Rho (☧)? As my faith is growing, I am becoming more attached to the older (ancient) people of the faith and the things of those times. Will I apologize if it offends someone? Of course not. There is nothing to apologize for as it is a representation of my faith and, as it appears in this blog, has nothing to do with anyone else. Also, I plan on including the Chi-Rho at the end of each of my posts going forward.

I hope this serves to satisfy the curiosity of those who took notice of the change. Now let’s get back to faith-based topics, shall we? Oh, and… ☧
